The UAE Pavilion at the 2023 International Horticultural Expo in Doha, Qatar, themed "Nurturing Legacy," offers a unique multi-sensory journey inspired by the Ghaf tree, the national tree of the United Arab Emirates. Designed by Bjarke Ingels Group and brought to life through digital installations by Yoke in collaboration with Atelier Bruckner, the pavilion underscores sustainability by exploring the UAE's historical roots, present initiatives, and future heritage. The pavilion's dome-shaped, rammed earth structure gradually rises toward its center, framing a series of exhibition galleries and 32 gardens that immerse visitors in the UAE's diverse landscape—from desert to oasis, and sea to mountains. The experience is divided into three themes: "Past: Our Roots," highlighting historical texts and poems; "Present: Our Land," showcasing current initiatives from local groups and government projects; and "Future: Our Heritage," envisioning the legacy of sustainability. An amazing room covered in mirrors can be found inbetween the roots and stem of the metaphorical Ghaf tree. The mirror room represents a transition from the past to the present and is an eye catching experience. The ceiling is covered with a screen showing a looping movie of 2 minutes length, produced by Yoke, showcasing all of the different environments and regions of the UAE, from the sea to the mountains.
