The Frøslev Camp Museum, located in one of Europe's best-preserved prison camps, offers a profound glimpse into Danish occupation history. The Frøslev camp was built as a German internment camp in 1944, and thousands of Danes were imprisoned there by the German security police. 1,600 prisoners were sent to concentration camps, while others remained imprisoned in Denmark.
Yoke has made an interactive table model for the museum, which provides visitors with an immersive experience that highlights significant events in the history of the camp. The model uses projection, animation and custom soundscapes to create an engaging narrative. Visitors can control a spotlight to illuminate the model, revealing various elements and stories, subtly bringing the table to life. The spotlight symbolizes the watchful eyes from the camp’s main tower, shedding light on events and stories within the camp. The abstract design language of the animations conveys the dehumanization experienced by the prisoners, reducing them to one among many.
Built-in screens provide additional information with texts and images, offering deeper insights into the highlighted events and buildings.
