Do you know why the wireless technology on your phone is called Bluetooth?

The name may seem bold, but it makes perfect sense. In the 90s, American engineer Jim Kardach from Intel named the new technology after King Harald Bluetooth, who ruled Denmark a thousand years ago. Harald Bluetooth united Denmark and Norway and celebrated it by erecting the world's largest runestone in Jelling. Similarly, Bluetooth technology aims to connect and unify devices, just as Harald Bluetooth unified Denmark and Norway. Both the name and the iconic rune logo draw inspiration from the runestone in Jelling.

In 2023, Bluetooth technology celebrated its 25th anniversary. It is now integrated into billions of devices worldwide, becoming an essential part of our daily lives. This exhibition explores the connection between history and technology.
