Through art, we tell stories and evoke moods and emotions. How can we bring these stories to life and enable visitors to experience the intangible?

In the exhibition "Playing Pieces," we explored these questions by diving into the expansive art collection of Sparebanksstiftelsen DNB. Yoke created two immersive digital spaces where visitors were invited to step back in time - into the paintings of Norwegian artist Nikolai Astrup and American street photographs by photographers such as Alfred Stieglitz and Richard Avedon.

With a combination of enveloping soundscapes, animated videos, and projection mapping, Yoke created two multi-sensory digital installations that allowed visitors to sense and experience the otherwise intangible atmosphere of the artworks on display. The aim was to encourage an understanding of - and emotional response to the art displayed in the exhibition. To bring the past to life and allow visitors to connect with the artists in a new and innovative way.

The project was a collaboration between DNB, Munchmuseet, and Kode Kunstmuseer. It was shown at Munchmuseet in 2022 and Kode in 2023. Exhibition design by Nissen Richards Studio, London.

Locations: Bergen & Oslo, Norway
